Hello Readers,
I’ve never written a blog before so please feel free to judge and comment away as otherwise my understanding and consequent quality of work will not improve as quickly. In reading this, what do you want (length, content, detail, etc)? I’m not sure so I’m just going to briefly show you my view of Saint Rock and tell you a little about me and my role here.
Saint Rock is going to be big. Our factory has a strong history of quality and passion. The past owners only passed it on to go into retirement. They were so impassioned that the live ones still visited up until the day we moved countries. With so many customization options there’s something to compliment anything, from olden day styles through to current high fashion. I can’t predict the future but hopefully I’ll be able to wear my hats ‘till I die. So we have a niche. The only problem at the moment is that very few (very cool) people know. The good thing about this problem is that it’s just a matter of time. We’ve been working hard planting seeds and with a little time and as long as we maintain care, we’ll harvest.
Now about me. My name is Leonie Bucher, I’m 20. Leonie means lioness and Bucher is a respected Swiss-German last name. Born in Switzerland and raised in Australia, I have never been in one place for longer than 4 years. I live by few rules; all interactions should be consensual (except for asking for consent, that would be tricky), be honest, be grateful for everything, love everything and show love in the least by endlessly learning.
You have undoubtedly seen me modeling the hats. My role in the biz is the model, I also help in production and packaging. In a sense my main role is being Olivier’s partner (2 years, living together, and unmarried). He is the creator and captain of Saint Rock. His mother makes the hats, I model them and he helps in those areas on top of doing everything else involved in keeping this ship afloat and on course.
To summarize my summarizations, Saint Rock rocks. Jump on the boat before everyone else does and get respect for it. I am a young person and you’ve seen my eloquent hat wearing abilities. Can’t wait to read about what you think of this premier blog.
Love Leonie

Time passes by quickly, well no not really, 2009 was a long and slow year. It was a year of extremes, both in the good and bad. It left me very unsatisfied because there was so much more I wanted to do but you can only go as fast as life lets you.
I can't complain because Saint Rock Hats survived its first year and has overcome quite a few hurdles and it still has many more to go but at least we're making progress. Life wouldn’t be fun if it was too easy anyway.
So far the biggest change this year is my move back to Europe from Australia, I learned a lot of things from the Aussies but it was time for me to go back home. It was hard being so far away from the factory especially since everything had to be done through email. Now we've just moved from Switzerland to France taking our home and the hat factory with us to improve our services. Switzerland is awesome and I’ll be going back often!
Now we’re in Montpellier, it’s a nice city in the south of France. The best thing about it is that it’s just 10 minutes from the coast so we have access to the ocean. The people here are very nice and the atmosphere is quite different than in Paris. We’ll have a little boutique in the factory to sell hats in person, so if you’re ever in Montpellier don’t be afraid to visit. We’ll even measure your head for you!
I'm not sure what this year has in store for us, I don't think anybody knows their future but its fun to speculate. We must think positively and hope for a lot of success but it is still a good idea to prepare for the worse.
Since moving to France we’ve had to go through a lot of the stuff in the factory and we found hats that are over 30 years old! It’s pretty crazy thinking about all the history that we have the chance to explore and it is quite an honour to continue the hat factory’s (Fabrique de Casquette) legacy.
Right now we’re in the process of reorganizing a lot of things and there are a lot of things of surprises but it is fun to go through some of the items we are finding.
All of this is inspiring us for the future hats we’ll be making and we’re already designing a few originals right now but things take time especially when you want it to be as good as possible.
Look out for our new line that will be coming out soon, it’s going to be pretty awesome!

The Holidays are always crazy, the meaning of this time of year has changed many times since us humans have been on earth so does it actually mean anything anymore? e I only find it to be a very stressful time of year and not very merry. It always boils down to just waiting for New Years (or Christmas if you’re younger), you know, just to feel like we've started something new again, a fresh start if you will.
Last New Years was surprisingly good, my friends and I had decided to go to Fribourg and party it up there instead of Lausanne. I didn't know what to expect and I was honestly not anticipating much at all. When we arrived there was the biggest line ever to get into the club and boy was it cold, yea winter is annoying.
Once we got inside, the place looked empty, but being one of the largest clubs in Switzerland means needing a lot of people to look full. There were at least three massive halls and each with its own DJ, look and feel. It was pretty cool.
The night started slow but eventually I started getting into it, more people arrived and the feeling of the bass going through your body is amazing and every time the DJ stopped the music to talk was like torture. *Note to all DJs out there, we don't want to hear you talk, just play the music and shut up.
In the end we all had a great time, we talked, danced and just partied until suddenly it was morning and it was time to head home. We caught the first train back to Lausanne and we all sat down for the 40 minute ride with a tired but content look on our faces.
All was quite until the train controller came to check for tickets. Suddenly everything started to get brighter followed by lots of “oohs” and “ahhs”. It was the first sunrise of the year and everyone in the train stopped what they were doing too look out at the amazingly beautiful sight. Even the controller stopped for a while just to see the sun rise.
It was at that moment I though it was going to be a good year. Looking back it’s been a crazy year with so much change and now I’m looking forward to what 2010 has to offer.
Now what should my New Years resolution be?

Hello everyone and welcome to the official Saint Rock Hats blog.
I'll use this as a platform to communicate with everyone interested in the hats and other things. I'd like to share many things such as interesting aspects of whats going on with the hat factory, life and everything in general. I'll also talk about my other projects such as helping rebuild Australian rain forest, art, movies, music and many other things like that.
For this first post I'd like to share a bit about myself. My name is Olivier Archer, I'm Swiss and I like art (new and old), movie making, animation, design, deep thinking, people, the world, nature and many things.
I've had the fortune of living in such countries as Haiti, Jamaica, Honduras, Switzerland and Australia so I have a good view of the world. They're all great places and I encorage everyone to travel, even if you can't go to another country go visit other parts of your own country.
My goal in life is to make the world a better place. A lot of bad things don't have to happen and if we got rid of greed and ignorance the world would be a much happier place. Until then I'll be here taking it one step by step.
